Description
A postdoctoral position is available to explore the function andplasticity of inhibitory circuits in the amygdala. Our laboratory islocated in the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research andapplies a multi-disciplinary and integrated experimental approach inmice. We combine in vitro and in vivo electrophysiology, imaging,molecular biology, genetics, and behavioral techniques to identifysynaptic and cellular constituents of neural circuits in the amygdalaunderlying the acquisition, encoding and extinction of conditioned fear.We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with expertise in brainslice electrophysiology, good communication skills and willingness towork on integrative approaches. The position is funded for 3 years.
The FMI is an independent research center with 300 members pursuingfundamental research in Neurobiology, Cell Growth and Signaling, andEpigenetics. Core funding is supplied by the Novartis ResearchFoundation and is supplemented by grants from national and internationalagencies. A competitive salary and access to state-of-the-art researchfacilities will be provided. The FMI is situated in Basel, Switzerland,a city offering an outstanding scientific and cultural environment, andwas recently voted the best institute for postdoc work in Europe.
