Description
A position is available in the Centre for Molecular Oncology &Imaging, Institute of Cancer for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant. Theappointee will be a member of the Oncolytic Virus and In Vivo Imagingteam and will be based in the School’s state-of-the-art facility atCharterhouse Square. The post is funded by Cancer Research UK.
The Oncolytic Virus and In Vivo Imaging team is developing virusesselectively replicating in cancer cells to express imaging genes for invivo visualisation of tumour tissue. Specifically, the research focuseson studying complementation deletions to enhance viral efficacy incancer cells and with minimal toxicity in normal tissue. The imaginggenes will be characterised for optimal type, promoter and imagingsubstrate. The aim is to bring this new therapeutic approach into aclinical setting as soon as possible.
Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant subjectand previous experience in molecular biology and cancer. A demonstratedability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain goodlaboratory records are also essential. Previous experience in the fieldof imaging and molecular genetics is desirable.
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment until September 2010.Appointment will be made on the grade 4 scale, with a starting salaryrange of £27,813 – £30,968 per annum inclusive of London weighting,depending on experience (pay grading review pending). The benefitspackage includes 30 days annual leave plus 4 College closure days; acontributory final salary pension scheme and an interest free seasonticket loan.
