Description:

We seek a biostatistician or computational biologist with a strong interest in molecular systems biology to join our team at the Gene Center Munich. The appointee will be responsible for the analysis, comparison, and evaluation of high throughput genomic data sets of various types; he/she will be jointly advised by the principal investigator, U. Gaul, and biostatistics faculty at the LMU and work closely with experimentalists. Our lab seeks to decipher regulatory networks underlying development using a combination of genetic, biochemical, and computational approaches, with a focus on the transcription control of pattern formation and on the molecular mechanisms of glial function.

The Gene Center of the LMU Munich is an interdisciplinary institute whose 15 independent groups study gene regulation at every level, from molecular mechanism to biological system. The Center provides a dynamic, highly interactive, and internationally diverse scientific environment, located within a vibrant biomedical research campus in Munich-Großhadern.

Your tasks: Developing, evaluating, and implementing strategies for quality control and statistical analysis of a diverse range of genome-scale experimental data (microarrays, high throughput luciferase assays, deep sequencing, high throughput FACS, high content screening); interpreting, integrating, and visualizing results and relating them to information from public databases.

Your profile: PhD in (bio-)statistics, computational biology, or similar qualification, with a strong background in data analysis and applied statistics, preferably of genomic and proteomic data; experience in image analysis, modeling, or data management is a plus. We seek someone with excellent analytical and technical/programming abilities (R, Bioconductor), an enthusiastic and flexible approach towards exploring biological data and tackling new problems, and the communication skills to work with a diverse group of researchers.

The salary is according to the TV-L and depends on your qualification and experience. The position is available immediately and will initially be for three years.

The University of Munich is an equal opportunity employer; part-time employment is possible.
