The Philipps-University Marburg, Germany, offers postdoctoral positions at the Molecular Oncology Department of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Tumor Research (IMT) and the Clinic for Hematology, Oncology and Immunology.
The research is funded by a European Research Council Starting Grant and focuses on the analysis of the p53 family of tumor suppressor genes with a special emphasis on translational research and the development of molecular targeting strategies for cancer therapy (Schlereth et al., Mol Cell 2010; Beitzinger et al., EMBO J 2008; Stiewe, Nat Rev Cancer 2007; Cam et al., Cancer Cell 2006). State-of-the-art functional genomics including gene expression profiling, next generation sequencing and RNAi screening technology will be provided.
Highly motivated applicants with a commitment to scientific excellence as documented by a strong publication record in the topics cancer biology, DNA damage response, functional genomics, bioinformatics, cancer stem cells or metastasis are especially encouraged to apply.
The department provides an internationally competitive research environment and participates in a variety of national and international collaborative research programs: DFG TRR17 “Ras-dependent pathways in human cancer”, DFG TRR81 “Chromatin changes in differentiation and malignancies”, DFG KFO210 “Genetics of drug resistance in cancer”, DFG priority program 1463 “Epigenetic regulation of normal hematopoiesis and its dysregulation in myeloid neoplasia”, and LOEWE priority research program “Tumor & inflammation”.
