Description:

Ellen Williams Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship position currently exists for an experimental researcher in the area of single molecule biophysics in the Seog lab in the University of Maryland, College park. The selected candidate will be working on preparing a novel peptide construct designed for a single molecule experiment to study molecular mechanisms of protein aggregation. The optical tweezers with ultra-high resolution will be used for this study. The distribution of dynamic single molecule behaviors as a function of time will be investigated under various environments to enhance understanding of peptide self-assembly mechanism.

The candidate must have a PhD degree, be highly motivated, and have background in physical chemistry, biophysics, and/or single molecule biology area. Fluent in English and ability to work in a collaborative environment are required. Skills in optics, instrumentation, spectroscopic techniques, and/or single molecule techniques are desirable but not required. Applicants should email current curriculum vitae, a cover letter describing past research experience and the name and contact information of 3 references.
