postdoc electrophysiology stockholm sweden karolinska patch clamp

Description:

Postdoc position in Electrophysiology is currently available at the Department of Neuroscience, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm Sweden.

Research: Our lab uses electrophysiological, morphological, and imaging methods to study neural microcircuits in the neocortex and basal-ganglia. In particular we are interested in the dynamic properties of neuronal microcircuits underlying sensory and motor processing. We study the dynamic interactions between different types of excitatory and inhibitory neurons in order to unravel the way neural networks are structured and dynamically orchestrated.

We are currently seeking candidates for a postdoctoral position in the lab.

Candidates should have
——experience in patch-clamp recording and knowledge of imaging techniques and computer programming. The project will involve multi neuron patch-clamp recordings in vitro and in vivo in neocortex and basal ganglia.

Environment: The Department of Neuroscience has a strong research tradition in the study of sensorimotor systems using a variety of techniques, in particular electrophysiology and neuroanatomy.

Karolinska Institutet is one of Europe’s largest medical universities and contains commensurate resources and infrastructure. A total of 600 research groups span the full spectrum of medical disciplines and includes 2,000 researchers, 1,000 technicians, and 2,300 postgraduate students from all parts of the world who take part in both basic and clinical research. Each year, the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet awards the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Applications should include the C.V., Publication List, details of two references and should be sent to Gilad Silberberg: Gilad.Silberberg@ki.se.
Funding is guaranteed for the first 2 years and may be extended according to progress.

The position will be open until a suitable candidate is found, but preferential treatment will be given to applications submitted before February 28th.
