All appointments will normally be made at the bottom of the salary range

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced Post-doctoral Research Associate to work on novel biomarker discovery for diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis.

The post holder will work within the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunity, based at the Hammersmith Hospital Campus in East Acton and will also liaise closely with collaborators at the National Institute of Medical Research (Mill Hill) and St George’s, University of London (Tooting).

The work will involve application of a wide range of proteomic techniques for profiling of plasma samples, including 2D-DIGE and SELDI-ToF MS, utilising pattern recognition algorithms to highlight discriminatory patterns of biomarkers. Candidate biomarkers will be identified by peptide mass fingerprinting coupled to LC-MS/MS.

Post-doctoral scientists specialising in a biochemical, cell biology or microbiological field are encouraged to apply. You should hold a PhD in a biological subject and have a BSc in a relevant subject e.g. biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, bioinformatics at a class of 2.1 or above.

The position is funded by an independent research grant from Pfizer Inc for a period of 15 months in the first instance and is available immediately.

For informal discussions about the post please contact Dr Dan Agranoff at d.agranoff@imperial.ac.uk. Potential applicants are welcome to arrange an informal visit to the Department to discuss the project more fully.
