The NorthEast England Stem Cell Institute (NESCI) is a collaboration between Durham and Newcastle Universities, the Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and other partners, including the Centre for Life in Newcastle. The primary aim of NESCI is the development of new stem cell treatments and provision of research tools for drug discovery. There are strong links with a range of academic, clinical, commercial and other partners plus the provision of state-of-the-art laboratories and specialist facilities to deliver this aim.
Following extensive investment and recruitment into new senior academic positions in the recent past the Faculty of Medical Sciences is now looking to appoint to NESCI at Newcastle outstanding postdoctoral scientists who are planning or developing independent research careers in stem cell science and regenerative medicine to enhance and promote the NESCI research portfolio. Two posts are available which will consist of two postdoctoral Newcastle University Research Fellows or one postdoctoral Newcastle University Research Fellow and one Lecturer.
Applications for a Newcastle University Research Fellowship or the Lectureship will be favoured from candidates whose area of research aligns closely with one of our existing academic groups.
When applying for either position, you are required to submit a ‘Statement of Application’ which is to give brief details of your suitability for the post and your research plans as they relate to NESCI. Include details of the likely funding sources you would use to support your research over the next five years. This can be attached as a separate document on our online application system and should be no longer than four sides of A4 in length.
