Research Fellow (Available from 1 July 2009, fixed-term for 24 months)
Applicants are invited for the position of Research Fellow to join a multidisciplinary team in the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, working in cardiovascular tissue engineering on a project funded by RegeNer8 and EPSRC. The post will be jointly supervised by Professor Eileen Ingham and Professor John Fisher in the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (Faculty of Biological Sciences) and School of Mechanical Engineering.
You will be expected to undertake original research into translating proprietary methods for the decellularisation of porcine cardiac valves to human cardiac valves and culture of cardiac valve constructs under physiological pulsatile flow in bioreactors. You must have a BSc and a PhD in Biological Sciences and experience of a range of relevant techniques including histology, immunocytochemistry, primary cell culture and excellent aseptic technique. You must have a proven track record of an ability to work as a team player in a multidisciplinary team.
