CBA Unit:
The CBA is a research unit mostly focusing on research and technologytransfer in the areas of Biodiversity, Environment and EvolutionaryBiology. The main goals are:
i) to carry out basic and applied research on the processes occurring interrestrial ecosystems, including those regulating species evolution and survival;
ii) to study impacts of human activities on species and ecosystems;
iii) to collaborate with universities in teaching and training activities;
iv) to contribute to technical and scientific exchange at both thenational and international levels;
v) to promote the diffusion of scientific results through publicationsand by organizing seminars, conferences, and scientific meetings at anational or international setting;
vi) to participate with its expertise in community services.
The core research and training programmes involving CBA researchers weredeveloped around the following three broad areas (or units), each headedby a senior researcher: Environmental Quality, Conservation Biology andEvolutionary and Developmental Biology. Research within each unit isimplemented by small research groups leaded by experienced researchers.This leads to a dynamic structure which success greatly depends on theperformance and creative contributions of young researchers.
The CBA also provides undergraduate and post-graduate training inseveral fields related to the core research carried out.

5-year position, base salary: 43k€ (annual)
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years postdoctoral researchexperience. In exceptional cases, duly justified, FCT may consideraccepting applicants with less than 3 years of post-doctoral experience.
The jury reserves the right not to fulfil the posts in the absence ofqualified applications.
