An enthusiastic and highly motivated individual is sought to join a newly established group investigating protein synthesis and quality control at the endoplasmic reticulum. This position will focus on torsinA, a novel ATPase located within the endoplasmic reticulum. The laboratory is located in a recently constructed building that provides state-of-the-art facilities for research in all aspects of molecular cell biology. A range of biophysical, biochemical and cell biological techniques will be used to examine the structure and function of torsinA, with a view to understanding how mutations in this ATPase cause the movement disorder torsion dystonia.
You should have relevant experience in biochemistry or cell biology research, and hold (or expect to hold shortly) a PhD in a biological science. Experience of protein expression and purification would be advantageous.
This position is tenable for 36 months.
