A post-doctoral (PhD, MD, DVM) associate is required for a newlyestablished lab in the Immunology Research Group in the FoothillsHospital, University of Calgary, Canada. The lab’s focus is onreceptor-mediated modification of the intraphagosomal environment duringphagosomal maturation in the macrophage. This work has a wide appeal tomany fields and is particularly applicable to the cellular pathogenesisof tuberculosis. The lab utilizes advanced techniques in quantitativemicroscopy and fluorometry, together with methodologies in molecularcell biology, microbiology and biochemistry.
The position would suit a highly motivated team player who iscomfortable to think and work “outside the box”. As well as performingself-directed research, the position includes some provision ofinstruction to graduate students and technicians. Experience inmolecular and cell biology and basic biochemistry are essential. Skillsin microscopy and fluorometry are highly desired.
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with level of training.Flexibility of hours or holidays is negotiable. Calgary is one ofCanada’s most livable cities situated at the juncture of the prairiesand foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. This is one of thepremier destinations for outdoor enthusiasts offering world classskiing, hiking, climbing and riding.
