Description
A postdoctoral research fellowship is available at the University ofAuckland to join the Nutrigenomics New Zealand team. Nutrigenomics NewZealand (http://www.nutrigenomics.org.nz) is funded by a $19 milliongrant from the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology and is acollaborative partnership between the University of Auckland,AgResearch, Hort Research and Crop and Food Research.
The successful candidate will work as part of a team with several staffmembers headed by Prof Lynnette Ferguson. The aim of the research is tounderstand the relationship between food components andgenetically-influenced human health. The initial target is Crohn’sdisease as an example of gut health. The project encompasses the use ofcell culture models, mouse models of human health, and genotyping,dietary questionnaires of human subjects.
The positions would suit motivated, independent, career-mindedscientists with strong backgrounds in any of the following areas:molecular biology, molecular genetics, epigenetics or bioinformatics
Candidates with skills in any of these areas should apply. Theappointments will be for an initial period of 2 years with anopportunity for extension. It would be desirable that the applicants beavailable to take up the position by 1st October 2008.
