Genetic and Molecular Mechanisms in Human Obesity

We are seeking experienced and highly-motivated postdoctoral researchassociates who would like to develop their scientific skills in amultidisciplinary research group with a focus on mechanisms of humanobesity. You will be based within the new purpose built Institute ofMetabolic Science at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge which is host toseveral internationally recognised groups undertaking research in thegenetic, molecular and physiological determinants of Obesity andDiabetes http://www.mrl.ims.cam.ac.uk/

The aim of our research programme funded by an MRC Programme Grant toProfessor Stephen O’Rahilly is to identify novel pathways and molecularand physiological mechanisms involved in human obesity and itscomplications. You will be involved in the characterization of thefunction of novel genes that are emerging from our programme of genediscovery and in the functional characterisation of novel mutations ingenes that are associated with the pathogenesis of severe human obesity.

You will hold a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or a relateddiscipline, with substantial experience in a broad range of techniquesincluding cell culture, cell signalling and protein biochemistry.
