Remuneration Package: Academic Level A $60,647 to $81,219 p.a., Level B $85,336 to $100,698 p.a., (comprising Salary, 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading)
The Centre for complementary Medicine Research (CompleMed) is one of Australia’s leading research centres in complementary medicine, with an international reputation for research in traditional Chinese medicine. CompleMED’s state of the art Herbal Pharmacology Laboratory is engaged in a long term research effort aimed at the elucidation of the molecular mechanisms of action of neuroprotective herbal medicines, and is seeking an experienced electrophysiologist to characterize the effect of herbal medicine extracts and purified natural products on the functional properties of ligand- and voltage-gated ion channels.
Candidates should have extensive experience using the whole-cell patch-clamp technique in cultures of primary neurons and cell lines (HEK 293, COS 7) and/or brain slices. There will also be the opportunity to gain experience in molecular biology and conducting in vivo experiments. The successful applicant will work independently but in close collaboration with other members of the laboratory working on separate aspects of herbal pharmacology.
The successful candidate will be appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Fellow according to their relevant qualifications and experience.
