Description

The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Pittsburgh isseeking a candidate for a post-doctoral fellowship position in aninterdisciplinary research program aimed at elucidating molecularmechanisms of signal transduction mediated by G-protein coupledreceptors in renal, skeletal and other cell systems. Fluorescence (FRET,TIRF), biochemical, pharmacological, cellular and molecular biologytechniques will be used to study transmembrane signaling andintracellular trafficking mechanisms in the context of neurotransmitter, peptide hormone/G protein-coupled receptor systems. Particular areas fordevelopment include: role of chemokines and receptors in cellpolarization, molecular mechanisms of Parathyroid hormone action in boneand kidney, mechanism of activation of GPCR heterodimers and implicationin brain signaling. The research project will determine mechanisms bywhich GPCRs and G-protein regulate cell signaling.

The candidate should have a PhD or MD/PhD in the fields of molecularpharmacology/cell biology or biophysics and have authored at least 2articles published in international journals. The successful candidatewill be expected to collaborate with the Endocrine Unit, and the Centerfor Systems Biology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and HarvardMedical School (Boston).

The University of Pittsburgh is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative ActionEmployers with strong institutional commitments to diversity. Women andminority candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.
