Selection Criteria:
for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow or a junior scientist tostudy pharmacological control of inflammation in Prof. Grando’slaboratory at University of California Irvine.
Position Description:
Independent, creative work toward understanding the roles of cholinergicenzymes and receptors expressed by immune cells in acute and chronicinflammation. Participation in design, implementation, and evaluation ofstudies aimed at development of novel pharmacological approaches tocontrol inflammation with cholinergic drugs. Besides in vitro studies,the work will comprise in vivo experiments in a mouse model. Thepossibility exists to extend this work to a mouse model of inflammatorybowel disease.
Professional Skills and Experience:
PhD or equivalent with advanced training in immunology/pharmacology witha focus on inflammation. A sound knowledge of statistics as applied tothis particular area. Fluent English spoken and written.Ability/potential to acquire extramural funding; excellent interpersonaland communication skills; ability to work with others in a collegial,team atmosphere.
