Description
A Post-Doctoral Fellowship position is available at the Eye Institute atthe University of California, Irvine. The position is for a highlymotivated and hard working individual to study the paracrine andregenerative effects of adult somatic stem cells, as well as theirtherapeutic applications to the degenerative diseases affecting theretina and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE). Molecular and cellularmechanisms of retinal and RPE development will be investigated as well. The successful candidate will employ a combination of cell culture, celland tissue imaging, testing stem cells in animal models, proteinbiochemistry and molecular biology techniques to characterize cellbiological regulation of retinal/RPE development and their therapeuticmanipulations involving adult somatic stem cells.
Contact
Please send CV and contact information for three references to Leonid E.Lerner, M.D., Ph.D. at llerner@uci.edu
The candidate must have a PhD or MD/PhD with a strong background in celland molecular biology, and a publication record in respected scientificjournals. Hands-on experience with protein biochemistry and animalmodels is highly desired and knowledge in ocular or neurobiology and/ordevelopmental biology is a plus.
