Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, workingwithin the Centre for Molecular Oncology in the Institute of Cancer andCancer Research UK Clinical Centre. The successful candidate will beexpected to contribute to the overall direction of research, and toparticipate in the Cancer Institute’s teaching programme. The projectwill focus on the evaluation of replication-selective oncolyticadenoviral mutants targeting pancreatic cancers. Several mutants usingtumour specific gene deletions and expressing transgenes will beexplored in combination with cytotoxic drugs currently used in theclinic. A major aim of this work will be to investigate and identify themechanisms involved in virus induced sensitization to drugs.
Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant subjectand previous experience in cell and molecular biology research. Ademonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team andmaintain good laboratory records are also essential. Experience invirology, intracellular signalling pathways and cancer research would be advantageous.
This full-time post is funded by the Digestive Disorders Foundation fortwo years and is available immediately. Appointment will be made on theResearch Grade 4 scale with a maximum starting salary of £30,968 perannum, depending on experience (grading review pending). The benefitspackage includes:
• 30 days’ leave plus 4 College closure days
• Childcare vouchers scheme
• Contributory final salary pension scheme
• Interest free season ticket loan
The School of Medicine and Dentistry operates a No Smoking policy whichbans smoking entirely, internally and externally, at all School ofMedicine and Dentistry sites.
