Description

Thomas Jefferson University Postdoctoral position available immediatelyto participate in a new, NIH-funded project at the interface of systemsbiology and circadian rhythms research.

The project will investigate signaling pathways and transcriptionalmechanisms regulating SCN gene expression, using a combination of invivo, in vitro, and in silico methodologies. The ideal candidate will beinterested in both systems biology and circadian biology and should haveprevious training in at least one of these areas, and will need to usemolecular biology methods and work with the rat as an animal model. Thisposition requires a significant amount of teamwork and excellentinterpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

The position provides the opportunity to receive interdisciplinarytraining in a highly stimulating and diverse environment and to work ina uniquely collaborative environment. The work site will be the lab ofJim Schwaber at Thomas Jefferson University in Center City Philadelphia,in collaboration with Dave Weaver at the University of MassachusettsMedical School.

The Daniel Baugh Institute (DBI) focuses on the development of mammaliansystems biology www.dbi.tju.edu by combining experimental studies ofbiomedical problems with matched computational and mathematical analysesand approaches. The computational aspect of the program is concernedwith studying neuronal adaptive mechanisms using multiscale simulationsinvolving gene regulatory networks, intracellular signaling networks andmembrane biophysics using hybrid deterministic/stochastic models. Wealso address requirements for multifactorial data analysis.

Benefits and salary commensurate with experience and include healthinsurance. The complexity of the relevant technology requires at least atwo year initial commitment.
