The Division of Population Health and Information at the Alberta CancerBoard is seeking a PhD Scientist interested in postdoctoral training inCalgary, Alberta, Canada.

A dynamic and stimulating environment, the Division currently has ateam of nationally and internationally recognized research scientiststogether with a core group of experienced research staff, engaged incutting-edge population-based cancer research including etiology,molecular epidemiology, cancer screening, health services andbiostatistics. In addition, we are currently recruiting an endowed Chairin Molecular Cancer Epidemiology to lead the Molecular CancerEpidemiology program in Calgary and a Research Scientist in the field of Biostatistics.

The position will focus on studies surrounding the role of physicalactivity and its relation to breast cancer under the supervision of Dr.Christine Friedenreich. In particular, there will be the opportunity toexamine specific biologic mechanisms that are being studied include sexhormone levels (estrogens, androgens), body fat levels, mammographicdensity; and markers of obesity and inflammation. There is also theopportunity to analyze the longer-term impact of an intensive exerciseprogram on beliefs, attitudes, and behavior modification in previouslysedentary, postmenopausal women.

The successful candidate will be a recent graduate in Epidemiology orequivalent with a strong publication record and excellent academiccredentials. The individual should be motivated and enthusiastic towardsresearch, capable of working independently with a minimum of supervisionand have excellent oral and written communication skills.

This position is subject to the ACB Non-Operating Research StaffGeneral Terms of Employment.
