The Institute of Cancer Research (a College of the University of London) is a world-class cancer research organisation with HEFCE RAE ratings of international excellence across all of its research programmes. In partnership with the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, we form the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe, dedicated to research that extends from epidemiology, genetics and molecular biology, through drug discovery and development, to cancer diagnosis and patient treatment.
Rhabdomyosarcomas are the most common soft tissue sarcomas in children and are a major cause of death from childhood malignancy. The aim of this Cancer Research UK Funded project is to test the role of a potential feedback loop between MYCN and the fusion gene products in the pathogenesis of rhabdomyosarcomas. Results may be relevant to development of targeted therapies for high-risk rhabdomyosarcomas.
The post would suit a highly motivated post doctoral training fellow with experience in molecular biology who will drive forward the research within a supportive team environment. The post is tenable for 3 years.
