Description

Imperial College is ranked in the top ten universities of the world, according to the 2006 Times Higher Education Supplement league tables.We currently have a positions available in  Microbial Metabolomics, Biomolecular Medicine, Division of Surgery, Reproductive Biology and Anaesthetics (SORA).Applicants are invited  to work on methods for the detection and resolution of problems associated with recombinant protein secretion from Pichia pastoris. The posts are funded by both BBSRC and EPSRC through the Bioprocessing Research Industry Club (see http://www.bbsrc.ac.uk/science/initiatives/bric)

The project will develop tools based on metabolomics (GC-MS and NMR based) requiring the initial development of robust methods for metabolite sampling and profiling, followed by chemometric multivariate analysis of the resulting data.

You would ideally have a background in metabolomics, chemistry, or biochemistry, and ability to develop and validate bioanalytical methods. Experience of working with microbial systems would also be an advantage.

The successful applicants will be expected to be involved in small scale fermentation work (with technical assistance) and work closely together, supporting each other’s work as required for the success of the project. They will also be required to present their work at regular intervals at BRIC meetings, and may be required to assist with the supervision of project students in the labs of the PI/CoI and similar academic activities.

The posts are full time and available immediately for a period of 3 years.
