 Description

The Children’s Hospital in Columbus Ohio, a teaching hospital of the Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, a leading academic health sciences center, is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow to continue NIH-funded research studies in the Center for Cell and Developmental Biology in Children's Research Institute. The research laboratories are located in new state-of-the-art facilities, with numerous core facilities available on-site. The laboratory effort is concentrated on understanding the role of connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in fibrogenesis and developing novel anti-fibrotic strategies that target pathways of CTGF production or action.

The successful candidate will study the role of CTGF in promoting fibrosis in the liver or pancreas, with special emphasis on structure-function, integrin receptors, intracellular signaling pathways, transcriptional regulation, and animal models. Experience in cell and molecular biology is essential and a strong practical knowledge of gastrointestinal pathophysiology (especially in response to alcohol) is preferred. Applicants should possess an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD degree, a strong publication record, and a proven research track-record. Preference will be given to individuals with self-initiative, research talent, and excellent communication skills. Candidates within the United States are preferred. Individuals aplying from abroad must include a statement regarding their current immigration status and visa requirements. Salary will be commensurate with previous research experience. Interested individuals should send a detailed curriculum vitae, a concise statement of research interests and goals, and the names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of three references by email.
