Description:
A postdoctoral position is available in the Centre of Chronic Immunodeficiency (CCI) at the University Medical Center Freiburg (http://www.cci.uniklinik-freiburg.de). The CCI is an integrated research and treatment centre that brings together basic scientists and clinicians interested in understanding immunodeficiency diseases and their treatment. One focus of the CCI is the study of known and identification of novel genetic defects of T-cell immunity. In close collaboration with clinicial immunologists, the CCI advanced diagnostic unit and the CCI research groups, the postdoc should develop and establish a platform for functional screening of human T-cells of immunodeficient patients. Technical support and funds for one technician plus consumables will be provided; applicants are encouraged to obtain outside funding.
The group will have access to cell sorting, imaging and sequencing facilities. The group will be affiliated to the Department of Molecular Immunology, Faculty of Biology, University Freiburg and the Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology that has a long-standing interest in the activation of T lymphocytes. Applicants should have completed an internationally recognized PhD in Immunology. The group leader position can be filled as soon as possible and the initial appointment will be until October 2013 with an option for a 5-year extension. Payment and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TVoeD (salary agreement for public service employees).
