Description:
Dr. Qutayba Hamid of the Meakins-Christie Laboratories – McGill University / Research Institute of the McGill University Health Center, is seeking a postodoctoral fellow. The laboratory is interested in the investigation of the role of cytokines in asthma and allergic inflammation and the regulation of the immune response to allergens. This group uses state-of-the-art molecular biological techniques to examine gene regulation at the levels of both transcription and translation in the inflammatory cells infiltrating the mucosa of the lung and the nose. The techniques that are currently used include immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, in situ PCR, quantitative PCR, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, laser capture, and antisense technology. The Meakins-Christie Laboratories are the centre of respiratory research at McGill University. They constitute one of the premiere centres for respiratory research in the world and serve as an important training ground for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Australasia.
