Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a dynamic research group to work on a femtosecond fiber laser-microscope system, which is mainly constructed for nanosurgery applications and more specifically for identification and manipulation of networks of neurons in vitro. The appointment will be in the Group of Dr. F. O. Ilday and the postdoc will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers with expertise in ultrafast optics, nonlinear dynamics, molecular biology and genetics.
Eligibility and Conditions:
Prospective candidates should have a PhD in a related field. The core competency of the postdoc should be neurophysiology/neurobiology in vitro, including patch clamp recording and imaging. The ideal candidate, not essentially but ideally, should possess quantitative skills in nonlinear dynamics in neuroscience or be interested in training in the physical or the biological sciences. The candidate will have the opportunity to be acquainted with a wide range of ongoing applications of ultrafast lasers and molecular biology studies within the Group. There is no citizenship requirement and salary is competitive and commensurate with the degree of experience. Bilkent University is an English-speaking university.
