Description:

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available to study the function of microRNAs and their target genes in ovarian cancer. The focus of the study will be on microRNAs involved in tumor initiation and metastasis. The candidate may also have opportunities to investigate the molecular mechanism of gene transcription regulation. Currently the main areas of our research are : (1) The biological function of microRNAs in ovarian cancer; (2) Mechanism of hypoxia gene regulation; (3) Identification of blood based biomarker for early detection of ovarian cancer. A combination of cell biology and molecular biology techniques are employed in our studies, including mouse genetics approaches. Experimental methods include flow cytometry, cell culture, xenograft mouse models, retroviral transfer of interesting genes/microRNAs/shRNAs into target cells, gene expression profiling, next generation high-throughput sequencing, etc. We are seeking highly motivated candidates with a PhD and/or MD, and with a strong background in molecular biology and mouse model experience.
