A postdoctoral research position in structure-function studies of cancer proteins is immediately available at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in the chemical or biological sciences and have extensive experience in the expression, purification, and biochemical or biophysical characterization of proteins. The candidate should be highly motivated, work well with others, and have an outstanding publication record. Experience in protein crystallization and structure determination is a plus.
The Jiralerspong lab is a newly established lab in the Lester & Sue Smith Breast Center, Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine. Our research focuses on studying proteins of importance in cancer using chemical, structural, and cellular biology. Our primary areas of interest are cancer cell metabolism, metastasis, and novel post-translational protein modifications. Our goals are to understand the biology of proteins and protein pathways involved in tumorigenesis, and to use this knowledge to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.
