job description:

We have positions available immediately for joint projects supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the ESF, to be carried out at the Depts. of Chemistry and Biomedicine at the University of Basel.

Candidates with strong backgrounds in synthetic chemistry, biochemistry and/or biology are encouraged to apply. Post-doctoral candidates with prior experience in organic synthesis, cancer cell biology, cell signaling and/or genetics are especially welcome.

The successful candidates will be part of an integrated chemical and biological research team. Here, the chemical approach involves the synthesis of a chemical biological tool kit for dynamic, real time monitoring of specific protein-protein and protein-membrane interactions within living cells. Biological applications will involve the investigation of phosphoinositide 3-kinase/mTOR signaling in tumor promoting cellular processes.

The University of Basel is an equal opportunity employer and applications from female candidates are particularly encouraged.

Applicants will be considered immediately, and the recruitment process closes 31st December 2009.
