Postdoctoral Position – Postdoctoral Research Trainee

The faculty mentor for this position will be Dr.IOANNIS DRAGATSIS. Our laboratory is using genetic approaches to study the molecular mechanisms underlying Huntington’s disease, Familial Dysautonomia, as well as other neurodegenerative disorders. An energetic and highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought to join the laboratory. The research project will focus in the development and analyses of cell-culture and animal model systems implicated in neurodegeneration. Expertise in several techniques including PCR, cloning, cell culture, Western and Northern analyses is preferred. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in biochemistry, cell biology, developmental biology, physiology or a related field. Experience with animal experimentation is desirable, since the successful applicant will have to work with mice. A successful applicant is expected to have a genuine interest, capability of designing and performing research experiments, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills. Qualifications: PhD or MD/PhD. Prior experience with mouse models is desirable, though not required. Applicant should be willing to work with mice.

Salary will be commensurate with relevant experience and based on the prevailing wage for postdoctoral fellows set by the state of Tennessee Department of Labor.
