Within this post, funded by the Wellcome Trust, you will study the assembly of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in the laboratory of Professor Mark Harris and Dr Steve Griffin. You will be focusing on the roles of the p7 and NS2 proteins in the process of viral assembly and release.
Specifically, you will analyse the role of p7 ion channel activity in the assembly of infectious virus particles and investigate possible interactions between p7 and NS2.
A PhD in Virology, together with a strong research background is required. In addition, experience with working within a Category III containment facility would be desirable. You will join a highly active research group studying various aspects of the biology of HCV. You will also be required to present data at both internal meetings and scientific conferences, both in the UK and overseas.
