Description
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position within the Department of Immunobiology; Division of Immunology, Infection and Inflammatory Diseases, Kings College London.
The research programme seeks to understand how one can broaden and enhance the quality of the CD8+ T cell repertoire induced against HIV immunogens encoded by adenoviral vectors in pre-clinical animal models using molecular approaches and “novel adjuvants”. The research team led by Dr Linda Klavinskis forms part of a multidisciplinary international consortium funded by a prestigious award from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to achieve the scientific breakthroughs needed to develop an effective HIV vaccine.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in Immunology or a related discipline plus experience and skills in cellular immunology, preferably in murine systems. Experience in flow cytometry, tetramer binding, ELISPOT and CFSE assays as readouts for T cell induction, functionality and memory would be an asset, as would a current UK Home Office license. Applicants will need to demonstrate a strong enthusiasm and a methodological approach to scientific research including an ability to take innovative and creative approaches to problem solving and possess excellent communication skills. In addition, applicants should have a record of scientific publication and be able to report research data to both scientific and lay audiences.
This is an opportunity to join a Group with an international reputation working at the forefront of dendritic cell and T cell immunobiology; to gain experience in a research environment that interfaces discovery with translational activities, within a world renowned postdoctoral training program located in one of Europe’s leading Centers for Biomedical Research.
