Positions in joint experimental and theoretical systems biology projects
The Division of Theoretical Bioinformatics at the German Cancer ResearchCenter (DKFZ) is inviting applications from highly qualified candidatesto work in interdisciplinary systems biology projects with a strongfocus on medical/therapeutic applicability. The DKFZ is a world-leadinginstitution in the field of applied and basic cancer research. 1 Postdoc, Ref-No. 199/2008
(This position is initially limited to 3 years, with possibility to prolongation)
The goal is to develop and improve predictive multi-scale(spatio-)temporal models to incorporate biological mechanisms spanningdifferent time- and length scales from protein signaling to multi-cellcommunication and tissue/tumor development. The focus will be onelucidating cellular decisions and cell-cell communication. Applicationswill range from understanding life-death decisions inapoptosis/autophagy pathways, tumor-stroma interactions in cancer, development of tumor progression markers to the understanding of woundhealing processes in skin. Candidates should hold a degree/PhD inphysics, applied mathematics, engineering or biological sciences, havingdemonstrated expertise in interdisciplinary research, systems biology, biophysics and/or nonlinear dynamics. Experienced applicants will havethe opportunity to lead an established subgroup on systems biologyincluding the supervision of Postdocs and PhD-students.
Initial Deadline for applications is 15.12.2008 but further applicationswill be assessed until positions are filled. For further informationplease contact Prof. Dr. Roland Eils (00496221-423600, sekreils@dkfz.de).
