Description

The Institute of Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene of the University Cologne (IMMIH) is inviting applications for a

Postdoctoral Position in “Molecular Innate Immunobiology”

This full-time research-position is funded for two years by the German Research Foundation (DFG) according to TV-L E13 in the laboratory of Dr Thomas A. Kufer.
The project will focus on deciphering the molecular and cellular events underlying signalling through Nod1, Nod2 and other NLR members using the invasive human pathogen Shigella flexneri as a model system.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual interested in the cell-biological, biochemical and immunological characterization of NLRs. In addition, individual project proposals within our research interests are possible.

The candidate will benefit from the stimulating scientific environment in innate immunology offered by the research network SFB 670 “Cell-autonomous Immunity” in which the host-laboratory takes part. Please visit our homepage for further information on current projects http://www.uni-koeln.de/med-fak/immh/forschung/ag_tk.htm

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in biological science or equivalent, and should have a strong background in cell-biology, immunology or biochemistry. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have a bibliography with at least 1 first author publication in a distinguished international journal. Sound experience and expertise in signaltransduction, biochemical- , cell-biological and/or immunological methods would be an advantage.

The Board of Directors of the University Hospital of Cologne places strong emphasis on gender equality and seeks to increase the proportional representation of women in this field. Thus applications from female scientists will be welcomed; suitably qualified women will be given preferential consideration unless other candidates clearly demonstrate superior qualifications.

We also welcome applications from disabled candidates, who will also be given preferential consideration over other applicants with comparable qualifications.
