Description

Royal Free & University College Medical School Division of Medicine, Royal Free Campus Centre for Hepatology, The Liver Group

Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Bioengineering and Cell Biology – 3 years (Post Reference No: LG-PD-09-08)

The postholder will be based in the Liver Group, in the Centre for Hepatology, at UCL’s Royal Free Campus (where the Medical School is located on the same site as the Royal Free Hospital). A major aim of the group is the design and development of a bioartificial liver machine to treat patients with acute liver failure. We have established a novel 3-D culture system for the biological component using human liver derived cell lines. This Post- Doctoral position is required to further the scale up of the system to a size that can subsequently be used in the clinical arena (~1.5L), from its current pilot scale (200ml). The successful candidate will be required to work independently, keep meticulous records and collaborate within and outside the team as necessary to achieve the project aims. Candidates will hold a PhD in a bioengineering or cell biological context in the mammalian field. The post is funded by the Liver Group Charity and the Peter Stebbings Memorial Charity.

There is funding available to support this post for a period of three years and the post will be offered on UCL Grade 7, with a starting salary of £27,466 pa, plus London Allowance of £2,649.For a job description and application form please see the following website:
