Description

One postdoctoral researcher position and several graduate assistant jobs(leading to PhD) are available in Dr. Shulin Li’s laboratory in thisfall (2008), next spring, and next fall (2009). The applicants for thepostdoctoral researcher position require a PhD or equavalent withexpertise in molecular immunology, immunology, cell signaling, animalhandling, or alcohol research in animal model etc. Experience inexploring gene function in brain tumor model will be preferred. Graduateassistants are expected to take graduate courses, work on researchprojects, publish papers, share lab duties, and present data in the labmeetings. The research focus will be on gene delivery, gene therapy,immune gene therapy, cell therapy, tumor-targeting, vaccine, generegulation, and the function of effector genes mediated by IL12.

Applicants should have a BS or MS degree in biology, immunology, cancerbiology, chemistry, biochemistry or related areas. Practical laboratoryexperience will be preferred. Applicants should also have GRE and TOEFLscores (for international students) that meet the requirement by theDepartment of Comparative Biomedical Sciences/School of VeterinaryMedicine/Louisiana State University. The stipend for these positions is19 k per year.

Currently, there are 6 graduate students, one postdoctral researcher,and one senior RA in Dr. Shulin Li’s laboratory, who are developing geneand cell therapy for treating tumors or trying to understand theunderlying mechanism by which IL12 enhances the anti-tumor immune system.
