Description
NIH funded postdoctoral position is immediately available for highlymotivated individuals seeking to build a career in lung diseases. Thelab is interested in basic mechanistic and translational researchfocusing on bzip transcription factor, Nrf2. Previous work from the labhave demonstrated that this transcription factor determines thesusceptibility and severity of various pulmonary diseases by regulatingenvironmental stress response. Details of research projects http://www.jhsph.edu/labs/biswal
Primary focus of this project is to understand and develop Nrf2 basedtherapeutics to treat radiation induced bystander effect (oxidative andinflammatory damage to normal tissues) caused during radiotherapy oraccidental exposure. Another arm of the project is to develop stem cellbased therapies to treat lung inflammatory diseases caused by radiationand other environmental toxicants.
The candidate should have a PhD and strong background in Molecularbiology/immunology/Cancer biology/biochemistry or related discipline.Expertise in radiation biology/ stem cell biology with animal researchis highly desirable.
