The Sars Centre in Bergen (Norway) is offering one postdoctoral positionfor initially two years in the Cnidarian Neural Development group (GroupLeader Fabian Rentzsch). The group is interested in the evolutionaryorigin of the nervous system and studies neural development anddifferentiation of the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis at thecellular and molecular level. Projects address the molecular basis ofsynapse and axon formation and the transcriptional control of thedevelopment of the apical sense organ. Molecular biology and biochemicaltechniques are used in combination with transgenesis to functionallyaddress these subjects.
Applicants should have a strong interest in developmental biology and asolid background in molecular and/or cell biology. The position isavailable from September 2008, the start date is negotiable.
The Sars International Centre is a partner of the European MolecularBiology Laboratory (EMBL), www.embl.de and a department of Unifobwww.unifob.no, affiliated with the University of Bergen www.uib.no. TheCentre is focused on basic research in marine molecular biology,developmental biology and evolution, through genetic and comparativestudies of invertebrates and vertebrates.
Salary for Postdoctoral Researcher (code 8150) start at NOK 390.000depending on seniority. Unifob has employee insurance and pensionagreements and is an equal opportunity employer.
