Description
A postdoctoral position is available in the group of Dr. Nicolas Thomäat the Friedrich Miescher Institute (FMI) in Basel, Switzerland. Thegroup was established recently at the FMI to study macromolecularmachines involved in genome maintenance (www.fmi.ch/thoma.n). Thepostdoctoral projects focus on the molecular mechanism of replicationfork stabilization and DNA repair and are done in collaboration with thegroup of Prof. Susan Gasser (please see: Genes & Development19:3055-69, 2005; Cell 125:1233-5, 2006; Nature 441:774-8, 2006).Previous experience in crystallography is essential.
The FMI is an independent biomedical research centre with 300 memberspursuing fundamental research in areas of Neurobiology, Cell Growth andSignaling, and Epigenetics. Core funding for the FMI comes from theNovartis Research Foundation supplemented by grants from national andinternational agencies. A competitive salary and access tostate-of-the-art research facilities will be provided. The FMI wasrecently voted the best institute for postdoc work in Europe and issituated in Basel, a city offering an outstanding scientific andcultural environment.
