Description
SAIC-Frederick, Inc., the operations and technical support contractorfor the NCI-Frederick, has an exciting opportunity for a Post DoctoralFellow position. Under the direction of the Head of the Image AnalysisLaboratory, the postdoctoral fellow will perform research anddevelopment in the software and algorithms for the high-resolutionreconstruction of tumors from 3D fluorescence microscope images, andsubsequent duties on the areas of image segmentation, spatialstatistical analysis and mathematical modeling. Research will likelyinclude analysis of 3D tissue culture models and tissue vaxcularization.Responsibilities will include close interaction with collaboratingscientists and their staff across a range of multi-disciplinary programsand including the Advanced Biomedical Computing Center. Duties willinclude keeping abreast of latest microscope image acquisition and imageanalysis technologies, and participation in oral presentations andpreparation of publications.
Doctorate degree from an accredited college/university in a disciplinerelated to biomedical research. Foreign educated candidates who havecompleted part or all of their education outside of the United Statesmust have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approvedaccrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency ofthe qualifications of degree work in the United States. Experience inC/C++ programming and image analysis; strong abilities in math; workingknowledge of optics, fluorescence microscopy, statistics and lifesciences research; scientific/technical publications and oralpresentations; and demonstrated ability to work independently and aspart of a team. This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance.
