Description
A two-year postdoctoral fellowship in molecular evolution is availablein the labo-ratory of Andreas Wagner at the University of Zurich.Applications will be consid-ered from candidates with theoretical,computational, or experimental background. The Wagner lab at theUniversity of Zurich studies biological evolution on all lev-els oforganization, from genes, genomes, and genetic networks to wholeorgan-isms. Ongoing projects range from laboratory evolution experimentsin yeast to human population genomics. A sample of our research can befound at http://www.bioc.uzh.ch/wagner/. Lab members are a group withvery diverse back-grounds and research projects, unified by theirinterests in evolution and /or fun-damental organizational principles of life.
We are looking for an individual who has received his or her PhD withinthe last five years, who is highly self-motivated and can workindependently. A successful candidate for an experimental project willhave substantial research experience with molecular biologicaltechniques, acquired in research projects with an evolu-tionaryorientation. A successful candidate for a computational project willhave a strong background in bioinformatics and computational biology.Applications without a demonstrated interest and research history inevolutionary biology will not be considered further.
The working language in the laboratory is English. German skills,although helpful, are not essential.
Zurich is a highly attractive city in beautiful surroundings, with amultinational population, and many educational and recreational opportunities.
