The nuclear physics and astrophysics group at Louisiana State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher, Senior Postdoctoral Researcher, or Research Associate to work with members of the nuclear theory group and perform scientific research in the forefront area of ab initio nuclear structure and reactions for light and medium-mass nuclei. In particular, the successful candidate will be able to utilize the state-of-the-art LSU’s symmetry-adapted no-core shell model and advance reaction studies for heavier nuclei beyond the currently accessible systems with impact on nuclear astrophysics. In addition, the successful candidate will interact with very strong research groups in several related areas including experimental nuclear physics, astrophysics, and neutrino physics.
Required Qualifications: (All) Prior experience in reaction theory and/or in nuclear astrophysics is required. (Research Associate 4) Master’s in theoretical physics or astrophysics and one to two years of related experience or a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in related field. (Research Associate 5) Master’s in theoretical physics or astrophysics and two to four years of related experience or a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in related field. (Postdoctoral Researcher) Ph.D. in theoretical physics or astrophysics. (Senior Postdoctoral Researcher) Ph.D. in theoretical physics or astrophysics with three years postgraduate experience. Additional Qualifications Desired: Some national and international travel is required. An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
