Medicine, University of Montreal
Montreal, QC, Canada

Project Description:

We are a new research group studying Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
(ALS)using transgenic mice, rat, and primary cell culture models in
conjunction with molecular and biochemical approaches and live-cell
imaging. We invite applications from enthusiastic and motivated
candidates wishing to complete PhD or Postdoctoral research in
biological sciences with a focus on the molecular mechanisms of motor
neuron degeneration in ALS. We are primarily focused on mitochondria,
axonal trasnport, and the exploration of new genes in ALS.

We are a young, dynamic, bilingual group, and CIHR funded. A highly
competent technician has already been hired and is foucsed on lab
setup.

There are several projects available, please email for additional
details.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a motivated postdoc and a PhD student, ideally with
a background in cell biology, biochemistry, or neuroscience, or
related area. Technical expertise in tissue culture is ideal.
Experience of working with primary cells is desired.

Candidates will be expected to successfully apply for competitive
awards.

Ideally, the post-doctoral fellow should have at least one major first
author publication in a journal such as JBC, PNAS, JBC, MCB, etc.

The graduate student should have at least a 3.4/4.0 cGPA. Previous
laboratory experience will be an asset.

Above all, candidates should be motivated and excited about science!
