| Job Description The Department of Genomic Medicine has immediate openings for Postdoctoral fellow positions in the Laboratory of Dr. Andrew Futreal at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Laboratory aims to accelerate the translation of genomic knowledge to improve both short-term and long-term patient outcomes extending to cancer survivorship. Dr. Futreal is recruiting recent PhD graduates to conduct research in Genomic Medicine. The candidate should have a PhD or MD/PhD degree and be familiar with basic techniques in genomic medicine, genomic profiling and computational biology. The candidate will be expected to pursue consistent independent funding (federal and or private funding) to fund research projects. The postdoctoral fellow will work on projects related to cancer genomics and large scale integrated data analysis. The postdoctoral fellow will be trained in state-of-the-art genomics techniques and bioinformatic analysis. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to conduct independent research, contribute to and present results at departmental meetings as well as inter-departmental seminars, scientific forums and national meetings, prepare manuscripts for publication, compile, write and submit reports to superior and other duties as assigned. The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, be able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Confidence, high motivation and the ability to work independently are absolute requirements.
