TFDs are small stretches of DNA thatcontrol expression of bacterial genes by sequestering transcriptionfactors that could otherwise turn on disease-causing genes. This projectwill design and test TFDs for their ability to restore susceptibility toextant antibiotics, restore the latter’s efficacy, and inhibit bacterialgrowth by inactivating essential genes. This project will be carried outcollaboratively with Procarta Biosystems Ltd (www.procartabio.com),which is developing TFDs for clinical application. Further details ofthis project can be obtained from Professor Mervyn Bibb (mervyn.bibb@bbsrc.ac.uk).
