Burnham seeks a Postdoctoral Associate for the Komatsu Lab in the areasof tumor biology and cardiovascular biology to study the role of R-Rasin angiogenesis, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and other problemsassociated with vascular abnormalities. R-Ras is a unique Ras homologthat regulates endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells, andpericytes during vascular remodeling. Previous findings from thislaboratory on tumor angiogenesis and intimal smooth muscle hyperplasiaare described in Nature Medicine 2005, Dec;11(12):1346-50. Theprospective candidates will continue this study at the new BurnhamInstitute facility in Orlando, Florida.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD and/or MD and must have a strongbackground in at least one of the following areas: tumor biology,vascular biology, cell biology, protein chemistry, molecular biology,and/or transcriptional/post-transcriptional gene regulation. Thecandidate should be capable of planning, executing and analyzingexperiments and should be willing to acquire new skills independently.No citizenship requirements.
