Postdoctoral Research Associate
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Specialist BiomedicalResearch Centre (BMRC) for Ophthalmology at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHSFoundation Trust / UCL Institute of Ophthalmology is one of eleven newBMRCs in the UK and the only one specialising in Ophthalmology. The BMRCfor Ophthalmology capitalises on the long-standing partnership betweenMoorfields and the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology which has given anoutstanding track record of basic biomedical research, much of which hasled to translational programmes and innovations that have alreadybenefited large numbers of patients in the UK and around the world. Thejuxtaposition of one of the largest eye hospitals, together with one ofthe most successful eye research institutions, has led to a wide rangeof ground-breaking biomedical research firmly embedded in anappreciation of clinical problems. The Moorfields Eye Hospital / UCLInstitute of Ophthalmology BMRC focuses on five research themes:Age-related Macular Degeneration; Diabetes; Glaucoma; Ocular SurfaceDisease; and Paediatric Ophthalmology and Inherited Eye Disease.
The BMRC for Ophthalmology themes researching Diabetes and Age-relatedMacular Degeneration have a vacancy for a Postdoctoral ResearchAssociate to join a project exploring the development of expressibleinhibitors of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Appointmentwill be made on the Non-Clinical Research scale, Grade 7, (£26,666 –£32,796) with a likely starting salary up to £30,012, plus LondonAllowance of £2,572.
