Theme: Mechanisms of Intracellular Parasitism
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position to work in thefield of bacterial pathogenomics. The research aims at understanding thecomplex pathogen-eukaryotic host cell interaction mechanisms underlyingintracellular survival and proliferation of the facultativeintracellular parasite Listeria monocytogenes.
The post
Tenable for 1 year in a first instance with possible extension for 1 or2 more years depending on performance. Internationally competitive hostgroup with long-standing experience in the subject. Multidisciplinaryproject offering opportunities for interaction with an internationalconsortium of laboratories. Post based in Madrid but will involveprolonged periods at the Institute of Immunology, Infection andEvolution, University of Edinburgh. Annual salary in the region of€30,000 (plus complement while in UK).
The candidate
Degree in a biomedical science or biology and research experiencerelevant to the post (molecular microbiology, cell biology, infectiousdiseases) at PhD level or equivalent. Vocational approach to science andmotivation to pursue a research career. You must be an enthusiastic andhard-working individual with initiative, interpersonal skills and theability to work independently and as part of a team. The ability tocommunicate in English, both oral and written, and relevant IT knowledgeis essential. Experience in genomics and bioinformatics would be an advantage.
