Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Neuroscience

3 years fixed term contract in the first instance

Applications are invited for a three year postdoc position incomputational neuroscience. The project will focus on informationprocessing in the vestibular cerebellum and involve the construction ofa detailed model of the cerebellar cortex in 3D that is based on newphysiological and morphological data. The position is funded by aSystems Biology Fellowship from the BBSRC (UK) and the ANR (France) andrequires close collaboration with experimental and theoreticalneuroscientists at UCL, the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Université ParisDescartes and Université Paris 5.

You should have a PhD in computational neuroscience or a relateddiscipline. Previous experience in biologically realistic modelling andknowledge of simulation tools such as NEURON or GENESIS is not required,but would be an advantage. Good scientific communication and writingskills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.

The UH Science and Technology Research Institute has been rated as 4(national excellence with evidence of international excellence) at thelast UK university research assessment exercise. It is located inHatfield in Hertfordshire, just north of London.
